[event] JT Donaldson @ The Shakedown Tomorrow Night!
JT Donaldson is one of my favorite producers in all of house music. It's been a LONG time since he's been here, so I'm excited to get down on the dancefloor to some sexy, deep house vibes. Rob Paine & Willyum are on opening duties as usual, but don't expect it to be a snoozefest because these guys are two of the top DJs in Philly and they WILL make you dance.

[Event] Hide Your Daughters :3 Aww... Yeah @ Liberty Bar, Philadelphia
If you're going to be in the Philadelphia area, make a stop by the kinda-new Liberty Bar and have a few beers with Karoshi and I. We'll be playing music from all across the spectrum, from funk/soul clssics to video game themes to house music to random shit we found on the internet that we thought would be funny. It's a casual, relaxed atmosphere and there's even Chinese food right next door if you get hungry and a porno theatre next to that if you get horny.
Oh yeah, we'll be taking requests. The bar has high-speed internet access, so it'll be like one of those Touchtunes Jukeboxes that seem to be all the rage, but without the premium of having to spend all the quarters you wanted to use on Megatouch instead.
p.s. My giflriend is #1 at Photo Hunt Chippendales Channel Edition. Challenge her!!!

[Event] Todd Edwards in NYC - 8.16 @ Knitting Factory
Todd Edwards is one of my all-time favorite producers, so to say that I'm excited that he's playing a 2 hour set in NYC is a huge understatement. Sadly, at least for me, that excitement won't be able to be released at the party, but I wanted to give you guys a heads up on one of the most prolific producers in house music history.

Though he gets less credit from stateside DJs and producers (at least compared to labelmates like Armand Van Helden), Todd Edwards created an innovative blend of rhythmic, cut-and-paste vocal samples, rubbery basslines, and slapping percussion that helped propel Britain's Sunday clubscene into the genuine cultural phenomenon of speed garage. Based in New Jersey, Edwards began producing for Nervous, the New York house label, during the early '90s. His 1993 "Guide My Soul" single, recorded as the Messenger, established a prototype for garage music that retained the soul and grit but avoided the overly polished airs much of the music had acquired. One year later, "The Praise" (as the Sample Choir) continued Edwards' irresistible, unique production style -- which often utilizes dozens of different samples, many of them himself -- and he also worked with two "real" vocalists, Kim English ("Tomorrow") and Veda Simpson ("Oohhh Baby").
In 1994, Edwards recorded several tracks for an upcoming New Jersey jazz-house label, i! Records. One year later, his second proper release on the label, "Saved My Life," became a big club hit and earned license in Britain through Pete Tong's ffrr Records. He provided remixes for several dance hits, by Robin S., Wildchild, Indo, St. Germain, the Beloved, and label-mate Kevin Yost. In 1999, Nervous collected his productions on a CD collection, and i! Records released Prima Edizione, a quasi-compilation including four new tracks. Edwards also released an EP with Tuff Jam, and completed a co-production for inclusion on Daft Punk's sophomore album. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide

[Event] The Shakedown - 8/9/08
The Shakedown, Philadelphia's best house music monthly, is doing an all local lineup this week with DJ Dennis (Selekta, Worship) and Summerjoy as the featured guests. They're two of my very favorite DJs in Philly and they rarely play out anymore, so I suggest that you check it out. Resident DJs Rob Paine & Willyum, two of the best house DJs in Philadelphia, will be warming things up and setting the tone. Oh, did I mention that the party is only $5 and there's going to be free booze until it runs out.

Tonight @ Liberty Bar, come out and celebrate the reunion of Philly Soul Collective. If you're unfamiliar with them, they are the masterminds behind one of Philadelphia's best house music events, The Philadelphia Experiment (Silk City) with their legendary 2x4 all night tag team sessions.
